Strawberry Gelatin Salad (Faye McDonough)

1 3 ounce package strawberry gelatin
¾ cup boiling water
1 10 ounce package frozen strawberries
1 8 ¼ ounce can crushed pineapple (not drained)
1 banana, mashed
1 8 ounce carton commercial sour cream

Dissolve gelatin in boiling water. Cool, and then add slightly thawed strawberries and pineapple. Chill until thickness of honey. Stir in mashed banana. Spoon half of this mixture into a loaf pan, spread sour cream over this layer, and top with another layer of gelatin mixture. Chill. Yield: 8-10 servings.
